Yes, the Mercury Cafe really does have a lot going for it.

Now granted, the popular attention directed towards swing dancing has cooled a bit since the GAP commercial hayday when people were jumping and jiving all over the place, but it’s still going strong in Denver.

And the Mercury Cafe is definitely the Denver swing hotspot.

Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays offer a chance to lindy or jitterbug or shag or boogie woogie or even balboa with beginners and old pros alike.

(Other days offer other dance at the Merc, such as tango and bellydancing, but I’m not as clear on the details, as I am an old-school lindy hopper myself and haven’t taken the time to get into the other awesome styles…)

Plus, you can get a pretty awesome slice of Vegan cake in the cafe downstairs, or a Wynkoop Brewery beer at the bar. Yum!
