Convention fever comes with chills, fatigue.
So my convention fever has about run its course, and left me with lingering symptoms similar to a cold or allergies.
Yesterday saw a pretty massive but seemingly well organized and (from a viewer’s distant perspective) peaceful march. SO many people, though! Crossing 17th Avenue, the protest did unfortunately back up the buses by about an hour.
Leaving, I saw crowds huddled around the doors of the Brown Palace Hotel, waiting for Hilary and Bill Clinton to exit. One woman had her hand over her mouth as if gasping, even though the former candidate and her husband hadn’t even appeared yet.
Clinton’s speech was on all the TV bars in Pasquini’s, and the crowd was hushed to listen to him speak about Barak and the future.
CNN was running “Pop-Up Video” like tags along with the speech, one of which helpfully informed us that Clinton’s campaign song in 1992 was “Don’t Stop Thinking About Tommorrow.”
It was shortly after that pop-up that U2’s “Beautiful Day” blasted through the Pepsi Center- the theme song for this campaign? Likely.
It made me think, however.
“What do you think will be John McCain’s themesong?” I wondered out loud.
My dear gentleman caller paused for a moment.
“It’ll be ‘Snap Your Fingers, Snap Your Neck.’”
I wonder how Prong would feel about that. Ha!
