Sustainable living up north

zen-zone.jpgI was a Fort Collins denzien for many a year before relocating here to the more urban metropolis. The FTC had a lot of great things going for it, including a number of entertaining and highly local public fairs. The Sustainable Living Fair was one I always looked forward to every year.

And it’s back! Helping work towards a brighter ecological future was never such a hoot!

Offering speakers, booths containing local goods and services, free snacks and samples, music, and lots of ecological tips, the Fair is always a great place to reaffirm a commitment to green living, as well as pick up some helpful information!

Workshops will be offered throughout the weekend, including workshops on creaing alternative energy sources, alternative building options, hybird vehicles, composting, and other green topics. Most workshops are included in the price of Fair admission ($5) but some have additional fees.

Speakers include noted environmentalist/actor Ed Begley Jr, Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper, and former Green VP candidate Winona LaDuke.

I’m especially interested in the Zen Zone, where fair-goers can take a moment for contemplation and relaxation in peaceful, meditative surroundings.

Maybe we Denverites interested in the Fair can get up a carpool or find out some easy bus trip to attend the Fair ecologically? It’s worth it!
