Where Art, thou

So…. Election season is over (yay for success!) and Halloween festivities have ended and it’s time to turn our attentions to the things around the city and the internet again. Personally, I will finally catch up on all my neglected teevee shows and spend entire days yet again doing nothing but looking at LOLcats (gob, I mention them a lot. I am totally lame.)

This Friday, to celebrate a clearing of the head, why not take in some art around the City and enjoy some culture?

First Friday on Santa Fe will feature local artists setting up shop in various galleries and storefronts. Hop on the ArtBus or catch a ride at one of the Dots stations for an easy commute.

Over at Andenken gallery, Washington DC street artist Borf will be showing. The opening starts Friday at 7pm, and Andenken will feature drinks, pingpong, and the chance to meet the artist.

Art the Arts Students League of Denver, you can take your mind off economic and societal woes with the “This is Hilarious!” show. Featuring humorous, ironic, and sarcastic works, the students and faculty of the League take the often-maligned stuffiness out of artistic works for the show.

Even though Phil Bender’s hubcaps no longer grace the walls of the DAM, his collection of vintage maps will be on display at the Jung Gallery starting this Friday as well.

For more art info, go take a look-see at Denverarts.org for listings and insights on plenty of gallery openings, shows, and other artistic events.

Now I’m off to laugh at stupid internet cartoons and sigh with relief.

  1. That cat pic is so FUNNY. And yes, I agree that that lol cat site is outstanding.
