Denver turns 150!

Whoa! Denver is turning 150 this year on November 22. They grow up so fast…

I feel like we should be having some Waiting for Guffman style musical celebration this weekend, but hey. There’s tons and tons of other stuff happening!

Over at the Colorado History Museum, the City and County of Denver has selected 150 folks who will be honored this weekend as change-makers and positive forces in the City. A reception will be held at the Museum, and the Rocky Mountain News (also turning 150!) will feature the names in the paper.

On November 22, the City will also be opening the doors of its various museums for all of Denver to enjoy the history and learning at places such as the Denver Art Museum, the Museum of Nature and Science, the Denver Zoo, the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Forney Museum and others for FREE on Saturday! Why, they’re even offering slices of cake to celebrate the austere day.

The Denver Arts Week also runs through Nov. 22, with visual arts, performance arts, and plenty of other creative activities to take in around the City.

There’s sure to be plenty more, so expect some updates on where to get some free fun and cake and other goodies this weekend, all in the name of Denver!

Happy birthday, fair city!
