The scope of everyday life, captured in paint
First Friday already? My how the time flies! It doesn’t seem like a month has passed since Denver’s big Fear No Art event in November!
Over at 11th Avenue Gallery (11th Avenue between Lincoln and Broadway), First Friday features a look at everyday images through the paintings of Sarah Booth in her show Scope.
Using oil paints, Booth examines the lifescape around us, capturing scenes we often take for granted as we rush along. Using images of light and movement, Booth’s images evoke the forgotten beauty of the landscape that surrounds us in everyday life.
This Friday’s event will feature an opening reception from 7-11PM on Friday, Dec. 5th and light refreshments will be offered.
11th Avenue Gallery is an intimate space sponsored by Scum of the Earth Church, and hosts events for featured artists monthly. It’s a nice place for artists in town to show, as it holds a wide variety of shows and doesn’t charge a fee for artists, nor does it require them to any contractual obligation with the gallery itself. A great place to check out everything from installation works to performance pieces to paintings and photographs, the gallery is a must-see spot on everyone’s First Friday’s art tour.
