Get crackin’ and save some dough on ballet!

It’s that special holiday time of year when we roast chestnuts over an open fire, fill the stockings of good girls and boys with walnuts, and go completely nuts when faced with all the present shopping and family details.

Yes, it is a nut-heavy time of year. (Add freezing your nuts off for the gentleman, and you’ve got a well-rounded nut of a season.)

So let’s throw some more on that pile.

The Colorado Ballet is offering discounted tickets for balcony seats to see their annual performance of the Nutcracker for only $29! The performance is running through Dec. 27th and is a holiday classic.

I saw the ballet years ago, and it was beautifully staged, although I never quite understood it all. It’s a semi-disturbing story about a girl who receives a pretty crappy toy for Xmas and her jerkwad brother breaks it, leading the girl to dream of an epic battle between a slimy rat king and the noble nutcracker prince, after which they get to party in a land of sweets. I think it has something to do with that special time in a young girl’s life when she blossoms into a real lady, but maybe it’s just about kicking rat ass. I dunno.

So go see it and add some extra sweet ballet nuts to your sack of Xmas treats!
