Meditation and joy

It’s been a stressful week. Rent payments, that after-holidays doldrum, car accidents (if you’re me, I guess.) I don’t think I’d make it through any week without my visit to the Eyes of Compassion Sanga each Thursday night.

Held at the Mountainview Friends Meeting House from 7PM to 9PM, the meetings provide 20 minutes of guided meditation (usually some thought or idea or teaching to think upon), 20 minutes of walking meditation, 20 minutes of silent meditation, a tea and cookie time, and a chance to share difficulties and joys in everyone’s life. It’s a great way to wind down the week and really look inward for those hard-to-answer questions and notice all the stuff that bubbles to the top of our minds in daily life.

This month, my friend Tara and I will be the guiders, picking out the guided topics and sharing some readings. We’re going to focus on “Joyful Living,” which seems so far off at times.

Meetings are free, and it’s a great place for relaxation, sharing, and thoughtful self-reflection. Also, you get free cookies. So everybody wins!

Join us tonight if you’d like! Feel free to bring a pillow or blanket or whatever else makes you comfortable
