b.sous at the Bluebird (with Leslie and the LY’s and Stereo Total!)
Bubbling over with cuteness and backed up with the musical talents of a mix of punk rockers, local band b.sous will be opening for Stereo Total, along with Leslie and the LY’s at the Bluebird Theatre (3317 E Colfax Avenue) on March 27 at 9PM.
Named “Look Out for in 2008″ by Denver’s alternative weekly newspaper, Westword, b.sous finds some of the brightest stars in Denver’s scene and brings them to the stage in a full-on flash of cuteness and home-made sounds. Made up of Brandi Shigley, entrepreneur, fashionista, and girl-about-town, Brian Hendrick (Separate Cars, Blast Off Heads), Brandon Bosch of L’elan Vital, and drummer Steve Read, the band has been seen all across Denver and beyond, playing shows at the Hi-Dive, during the Meadowlark’s popular SPUN events, the Oriental Theatre, the Denver Museum of Contemporary Art, and at San Francisco’s House of Shields.
Creating tunes on a trusty Casio keyboard and 8-track by Brandi, the boys bring their years of musical experience to support her quirky and catchy songs. Blasting out quirky and danceable songs like “Cuteness Overload” and the French/Spanish/English lyrics of “Yes it’s true, I love you” , the b.sous gang works to get people to their feet with their minimalistic and inventive pop sound.
The group gets inspiration for their quirky name from an amalgamation of sources: The French word bisous (“to kiss”), along with a band member’s name, Brandi Sue. Voila!
With their international flare, b.sous will be fitting right in with fellow multi-lingual headliners Stereo Total, a Berlin-based French-German duo that mixes synth-pop, New Wave, electronic, punk, and pop music for a humorous and trans-continental sound. Their mod styling and pop-remixes of well-known songs (such as Salt-N-Pepa’s “Push It”) have earned them recognition and raves in Europe, Japan, and America.
