You just blew my mind: The psychedelic experience at the DAM
![]()
Even though many of the hippies and other far-out groovers from the 60s grew up, cut their hair short and moved to the suburbs, their psychedelic experiences linger in our collective cultural minds. Flip on the radio, and the acid-tinged lyrics of Jefferson Starship or the Beatles during their Sgt. Pepper period still hit you right in the ol’ mindgrapes.
Perhaps that’s why the new poster exhibit at the Denver Art Museum still relevant and fresh: It’s both a time capsule of an age that seems increasingly far away, but also a look into the Brave New World that the 60s seemed to offer.
With over 300 newly-acquired poster works, the DAM show will feature works by important poster artists of the Haight-Ashbury heyday.
Running March 21 through July 19, the exhibit will cost you an additional admission price, but this Saturday, it (along with the rest of the DAM exhibits) is free for the First Saturday event! So go get tripped out on the cheap.
Groovy, man.
