The Astounding Problem of Andrew Novick
Sometimes I look around my tiny little apartment and think “I have way too much stuff.” As a packrat intent on saving every little bit of string or shiny object (I put this tendency down to my days playing video games, in which you had to collect a weird variety of things in your inventory for use later.) But I have nothing on the extraordinary and overflowing collection of Denver’s own Andrew Novick.
The proprietor of Asian-centric store Gimme Gimme Pillow Toast has his massive, varied, and sometimes magical collections on display at The Lab at Belmar.
Seeing some of the toys, sleeping bags, toys, and advertisement that filled the shelves and bins was like taking a peak into my own childhood basement circa 1986. I had that She-Ra sleeping bag! That GEM doll! Those MicroMachines!
Go now, before the show closes on May 12, and before the Lab shuts its doors as their director moves to the MCA here in town.
