Head up to Golden, where the air smells of delicious hops and barley, and check out the Foothills Art Center’s current show, the Colorado Arts Open 2009.

Featuring the work of a wide range of artists from the Colorado state, there’s plenty to see and all different styles, formats, and concepts to appreciate. Local artists submitted their best or most favored piece for the juried competition, and some of the results are astounding.

This Saturday, Foothills Curatorial Director Michael Chavez will be offering a talk at the center starting at 11 AM detailing the best ways for artists to gain entry into juried art competitions and shows, just like the Colorado Arts Open. It sounds like a must-attend for Denver artists interested in expanding their reach.
