The jury is in for art

I got called into jury duty for the first time ever today.
As I sat in the large Jury Selection Room at the City and County building all this morning, realizing that I forgot to bring a book, I was getting pretty antsy. Thank the stars there was something interesting to look at in the room!
Organized by photographer Anna Newell and others and the City and County (C&C) building, the walls of the otherwise drab room were livened up by some intriguing local art. The C&C Exhibition Series exposes 800-1200 local Denverites a week (those of us called up for jury duty) to unique local works.
For July and August, Aaron Darnell and Noami Foster have their work on display. Darnell’s work is abstract and colorful, while Foster’s is portraits of (mostly) youth in colorful clothing.
Those sure saved my sanity as I waited…and waited… and waited.
If you either have to report for civic duty or just want to check out an interesting exhibit space with local works, check out room 431 at the City and County building.
