Mile High Music

The Mile High Music Festival is going on this weekend, and it looks like a great way to hear cool music on some hot summer afternoons.
Held at Dick’s Sporting Goods Fields over in Commerce City, the festival is a two-day extravaganza of big name bands, as well as some local groups performing all day, both days, on a variety of stages.
This year’s big headliners include Gogol Bordello (yay!), Tool, Widespread Panic, Thievery Corporation, and local success story DeVotchKa.
Tickets are kind of pricey, but you can save some cash if you carpool. And I haven’t done the math, but does it work out to be a pretty good deal for all the bands you get to see? Someone who understands numbers should figure that out.
I saw Gogol Bordello , the “gypsy rock” band (featuring musician and actor Eugene Hutz at the front) a few years ago, and damn, they put on a good live show. I’ve heard they’re even better in an outdoor festival setting, so this might be a great chance to catch them live.
