Living on the Fringe

fringe

For the next week (August 13-23) Boulder will be alive with the Fringe element.

The 2009 Boulder International Fringe Festival kicks into high gear this weekend with performances, bands, arts, and other activities going on all around town.

The Fringe Festival brings together artists and creators of all stripes, those often located just out of the main stream. The Festival offers the folks in the Fringe community a chance to shine in several family friendly events, workshops, shows, and cultural happenings.

This year, over 70 artists in 12 venues will be participating.

Some highlights include a performance of the epic tale of Gilgamesh choreographed by Izumi Ashizawa at the CU Museum of Natural History, running Aug. 18-21.

On Aug. 14-23, British comedian Jimmy Hogg will be performing his comedy act “Like a Virgin” at the CU Museum of Natural History as well.

For families, the Orchestra of Creation Song will be hosting a children’s workshop in which the kids will get a chance to craft instruments and then put on a performance. The workshop will be held on Aug. 15, 19, and 20th.
