Be a hero

Put on your philanthropic cape of freedom, it’s time to be a super hero! A super hero of charity, that is.

Tomorrow (Sat., Sept. 5) from 3-8:30 PM, the comic book silent auction and fundraiser Super Heroes of Philanthropy will offer all of us comic book fans a chance to bid on vintage comics, collectibles, posters, and memorabilia to support Bands for Lands’ efforts in greening the local music scene and conserving endangered ecosystems.

A free event at the Oriental Theatre (the auction and action are free, and a VIP dinner is only $25, or $35 the day of the event), the festivities will feature comic artists Daniel Crosier, Kevin Gentilcore, John Porcellino, Stan Yan, and others.

Entertainment featuring and aerial show by Aerial Dance Over Denver and Mute Man’s Microphone will happen between 6:30-8:30, and winning bids for the auction will be announced at 8:45.

What a great way to spend a super Saturday: Helping green the local scene, and getting some comic books to boot! And you get to be a super hero for helping out as well!
