Saigon Bowl

Damn good, damn cheap. Usually those adjectives don’t go together, or at least raise an eyebrow or two, but this time isn’t one of them. Two people can eat like kings — and take home food for tomorrow — for just $30. It’s crazy. Saigon Bowl has something like 186 dishes on the menu. The waitstaff is quick and polite, and the restaurant is clean. I get Pho soup, spring rolls and sweet n sour chicken.

Breakfast King and Pete’s Kitchen

They do the same thing, so I’ll combine them in this article. Both: American diners, Denver landmarks, open 24 hours. I get breakfasts when I go, and they’re both very similar, the only edge being given to Pete’s for sheer speed. I was there a couple months ago at the counter and I’m sure my Chefs Special got to me in around four minutes. A wait for the Breakfast King equivalent recently took 20-25 minutes. Other than that, they’ve both bot great pancakes and hashbrowns.

Señor Burritos

Super little neighborhood place that’s been around since 1993 or so. Tamales are great, and come on the spicy side of spicy. Salsa’s good, burritos are good, prices are very reasonable, and the staff is extremely friendly. I’m never let down at Señor Burritos.

Lucile’s

Much hoopla about nothing. It’s always a thousand minute wait. Why? The food is bathed in butter and grease. If that’s “Creole”, I guess I’m just not into Creole. The place is packed, the tables are small, and our food was mediocre. Beignets are superb though.

Avoid

Stay away from Wok to You unless you like getting ripped off.

Yeh, the Lucille’s here doesn’t stack up to the Fort Collins branch of that same restaurant. Something here is missing…
